Memorizing anything is a difficult task. The only way to overcome the obstacle is to face it. When we are overwhelmed, when we feel like memorization is impossible, we must know the only true way to memorize a piece is to keep practicing it. At no other time in my school experience was this more evident than two years ago at the WW Fenn speaking contest; where I was forced to memorize a piece that seemed incompatible to me. I knew I was in over my head, but failure was not an option.
This year in the annual WW Fenn speaking contest, Fitz class is faced with the challenge of memorizing a poem, then reciting it in front of a class. Although this task may seem bitter and insurmountable, the only way to achieve goal of memorization is to face the beast.

I agree that it is a very hard thing to do. I have a lot of trouble, its nice to see that someone else does to.

Wise and sage words! I hope it is going well. Keep me up to date on where you are at and how you feel.

If you really deeply care and have a connection to a piece the memorization comes naturally to a piece.
